The Holy Trinity community celebrated the Great Feast of Holy Pentecost several ways this weekend.
On Saturday a team of five prepared and served nearly sixty meals at The Covenant Soup Kitchen. June service event was staffed by regulars Tim Fetzko, Reader Tikhon (Eric) Wallace, Jason and Denise Geeza. This time the team was joined by Denise's 14 year old nephew Leo Lavigne. This was the first time Leo served at Covenant and was part of a community service requirement for school.
The team prepared a delicious meal of pork tenderloins, glazed carrots, white rice, baked beans, corn bread, various salads and desserts.
This was the second time the team worked with new kitchen manager Jan C. The operation ran very smoothly as all entrees and sides were prepared in record time. In fact, this was the first time anyone remembers having time to stand around. However, there is always something to do at Covenant and Jan quickly had some of the team members working on prep for next week's clients, during the lull.
The next scheduled soup kitchen date was on Saturday, September 30th but will have to be changed in order to accommodate a busy and fulfilling weekend that will include consecration of our new altar table.
On Sunday the faithful gathered to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. The church was beautifully adorned in vibrant green and leafy branches. At the conclusion of Divine Liturgy, Fr Marc transitioned directly into vespers of Holy Pentecost and Kneeling Prayers where each of us has the opportunity to join in prayers of mercy, thanksgiving and remembrance for the living and dearly departed.
After Liturgy a sumptuous pot luck luncheon was hosted by Ms. Diane Krott. Many tasty dishes were supplied by the Holy Trinity parishioners, including what are quickly becoming highly sought after items - Deviled Eggs and Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream hand made by Reader Tikhon Wallace.
