Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

As 2016 winds down, it's time to begin to reflect back on the past year and some of the activities Holy Trinity continues to be involved in. This year we increased our commitment to the Covenant Soup Kitchen from 4 to 6 visits. In the end we will have participated in 5 as we weren't able to supply a crew during mid-summer.

In June, John and Merci Matcheson, Bob and Sue Dolan, Danielle Lesperance and Tim Fetzko fed nearly 100 clients a delicious, summer-y meal of baked chicken, beans, potato salad, cole slaw, fruit salad and assorted desserts.

Several weeks ago, on October 29, Barbara Lacey, Jason Geeza and Tim Fetzko welcomed new team members Reader Tikhon (Eric) Wallace and Ekaterina (Katya) Kotelnikova on their first visit to Covenant Soup Kitchen. This day the soup kitchen was very busy and the short-handed staff prepared, cooked and served over 100 meals of chicken and rice with assorted vegetables, salads and desserts to thankful clients.

Our relationship with Covenant Soup Kitchen continues to deepen. The team members always come away humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve those in the local community who are in need of assistance.

Earlier in 2016, Pam Doyle, long-time Soup Kitchen Coordinator announced her retirement at the end of the year. During our last visit Pam informed us she may be retiring immediately because she’s recently been diagnosed with a treatable form of Lymphoma. Without a doubt, Pam is the sparkplug that keeps the Soup Kitchen running smoothly. She will be missed by all of us. Please keep Pam in your prayers.

Holy Trinity has one more visit schedule with Covenant Soup Kitchen on December 10th from 9:00Am-1:00PM. We are in the process of assembling a team to close out our 2016 commitments. Interested individuals please contact Tim Fetzko.
