Members of Holy Trinity were, once again, privileged to serve people in-need by spending a few hours working at the Coventry Soup Kitchen in Willimantic, CT. The group included devoted parishioner and Council Secretary-Barbara Lacey, webmaster and Council VP-Tim Fetzko and was led by first time volunteers - Kevin, Martha, Brittney and Nicholas Vincent. Yes...the entire Vincent family participated on this day! What an inspiration to us all.

A scheduling miscommunication had the noon meal served by members from St. Andrew's church in Colchester. True to the character of Holy Trinity members - they saw a need and they jumped in. Instead of preparing the meal and serving guests, the group spent the morning helping lead coordinator, Pam Rogers, catch-up on a back-log of tasks.

Barbara, Martha, Kevin, Brittney and Tim sorted and bagged donated breads, bagels, fruits and vegetables for later use. Many of the items were put out in the main dining area by Kevin and Nick Vincent. Clients of the soup kitchen are welcome to take those items with them for later use. The group concluded their duties by cleaning the prep area and arranging items for Sunday's bag lunch. A tasty meal of cook-out type foods were served to the many patient and grateful guests of Covenant Soup Kitchen.

The experience of volunteering is always humbling and leaves participants wanting more. In fact, the Vincent family signed-up to host the traditional Thanksgiving meal. Holy Trinity looks forward to its next visit to Covenant Soup Kitchen in fall to coincide with hosting the New England Diocesan Assembly.
