Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

Several families from Holy Trinity visited the Belltown Hill Orchards in nearby South Glastonbury, Connecticut, for an afternoon of apple and pumpkin picking. The weather was perfect with mild temperatures under a cloudless blue sky. This type of activity continues a recent trend at Holy Trinity where families and youth gather for Chritian fellowship and bonding. Previous activities included a Hartford Yardgoats baseball game, a dance party, and a pool party. Future events include our annual Saint Nicholas Day Celebration (December 4) where the children will be entertained by John Banker whose lively music will have our church's children literally jumping for joy.

It's not all fun and games at Holy Trinity, though. With up to eighteen to twenty children in church each Sunday for Divine Liturgy, instruction is taking place. A formal church school progsram is being established where we will use highly regarded Othodox Journeys as our instructional materials. It must be noted as well, that all of our children actively participate in the Divine Liturgy. There is an engaged Saint Olympia Handmaiden Ministry Program where the young females take part in the Little Entrance, the Gospel Reading, and the Great Entrance. Our altar is full with servers ranging in age from 3.5 to twenty seven who serve in the altar with Father Marc. They are offered guidance and personal instruction in the altar from Mr. Timothy Fetzko and Chet Andrzejewski, MD, PhD. Meanwhile, Alex Fetzko, age 13, reads the Third Hour prior to Liturgy each Sunday.

A more recent development has occured in our choir. Four young girls, whose ages are nine to thirteen, stand with their mothers in the choir on Sundays. They are encouraged to participate by each of our four choir directors. There is a place for whoever has a voice.

Holy Trinity is a warm and inviting community. Liturgical services are in English. Please join us. You will feel welcomed by our church community.
