The Holy Trinity community bid a fond farewell to Mrs Bonnie Morrison at the conclusion of Divine Liturgy on Sunday, May 25, 2014. Bonnie first joined us for worship over three years ago at the suggestion of a friend who lives in Paris, France. Once Bonnie discovered Holy Trinity, she fully immersed herself into the life of our community, as did her two girls, Madegan, 15, and 12-year-old Maya.
Madegan and Maya were received into the faith through the Sacraments of Baptism and Chrismation in December, 2012. Bonnie meanwhile, entered into the Catechumenate in mid-May, 2013, and received Chrismation on her 45th birthday, August 25, 2013.
Bonnie brought a spirit of Christian joy to our community that is not often seen, and it will be greatly missed. No matter what difficulties she encountered and the stress that daily living brings, Bonnie always persevered, rarely complained, and always, always wore a big smile. Bonnie was a Christian presence in our community, full of God's joy and beauty. The light has gone out for all of us a bit with the departure of Bonnie, Madegan, and Maya.
The girls will finish the school year in Connecticut, then join her parents (Jim), and brother, Orion, a high school senior, in their new home, in Kansas City, Missouri, in early July.
Holy Trinity presented Bonnie with a hanging vigil light and a copy of The Desert Christian, a timeless work by Benedicta Ward which contains a complete collection of the desert father's sayings on spiritual progress, inner peace, and self-control. The desert fathers lived in the fourth and fifth centuries and sought spiritual peace in the wilderness of Egypt and Palestine.
May God bless and protect Bonnie Morrison.
