Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

Mr Patrick James Dolan was received into the Eagle Scout Court of Honor on May 10, 2014, in a moving ceremony which culminated more than seven active years in Scouting for Patrick.

Always an outdoorsman at heart, Patrick touched upon the pivotal year for him in Scouting came as a 14-year-old teen in charge of many peers entrusted to his care and direction. He was honored to be such a position of authority, even if it was a bit daunting for him.

The Holy Trinity Church community has seen Patrick grow from a young boy into a responsible young adult. A senior at Coventry High School where he is ranked #16 in his class, Patrick will graduate on Saturday, June 21. After a school trip to Italy in late June, Patrick will be camping with fellow scouts in Alaska in July. He will begin his post-secondary school studies at the University of Connecticut in late August.

Patrick, who turned 18 years old on May 16, is the son of Mr & Mrs Robert (Susan) Dolan. He enjoys camping and fly fishing. His older brother, Michael, is a junior at UConn and Andrew, his younger brother, is currently a freshman at Coventry HS. Patrick was joined at the Court of Honor by several members of his family from New Jersey, including his three remaining living grandparents.

Many will recall that for his Eagle Scout Project, Patrick constructed a new sign for our church. The sign was installed in mid-October, 2013, and blessed by His Eminence, Archbishop NIKON, on October 23. Click her for a narrative and photo gallery of that event.

The Holy Trinity Church community congratulates Patrick Dolan. We are extraordinarily proud of him.
