Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

After Divine Liturgy on Sunday, October 6, 2013, Ms Madegan Morrison, 15, offered an enlightening presentation on her two week trip to China, in April, 2013. Madegan was one of several students from Nathan Hale Middle School in Coventry, CT, who spent two weeks in China. After the presentation, Madegan fielded questions for approximately an additional 15 minutes. Her presentation was delivered in a very mature fashion, and it was clear the trip has left an indelible print on Madegan's life.

She is now able to see the world in a much larger context, and looks forward to her next trip abroad. Madegan is extremely faithful to the Holy Trinity community. She sings in the choir, and participates in the church school program. Madegan is currently a freshman at Coventry (CT) High School.

"Madegan was lucky enough to be able to go to China earlier this year with a few members of her 8th grade class. This was part of an exchange program between Nathan Hale middle school in Coventry and the middle school in Qing Dao, China. The group spent a week in Qing Dao ~ going to school with Chinese 8th grade students ~ most of whom had never seen Americans before. They toured the city, Buddhist temples, a beer factory (that was established by the Germans) and the Qing Dao Sailing Center ~ built for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

After their week of schooling, they were able to spend another week in Beijing ~ where they were able to see the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City and the Imperial Palace, Tiananmen Square and the Summer Palace. Of course, they also had to check out a KFC as well as a McDonalds while there too! All and all, an amazing trip that created memories that will last a lifetime!" - Bonnie Morrison
