Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

Sunday, February 3rd, Holy Trinity sponsored its annual Souper Bowl of caring and its 1st Tailgate Chili cook-off.  Parishioners brought in 10 different chili dishes, which featured traditional recipes as well as vegetarian chili, white chicken chili, dark beer and molasses flavored chili and bison chili.  The entries were evaluated by our distinguished panel of judges.  First prize was a Target gift card.  All charitable proceeds will be sent to International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).

Congratulations to Barbara Lacey who took first place, followed closely by Angie Bull in second place and Joe Hutnik who earned third place.

Thank you to our judges: Amadeo Ruiu, Zoe Kaputa, Madegan Morrison and Patrick Dolan and Ziv Kaputa who tallied all the scores.

Additionally Holy Trinity parishioners assembled hygiene kits that will be delivered to IOCC for distribution to people world-wide who suffering and in-need.

Thanks once again to Patrick Dolan who spearheaded the effort and for the support of current and former members of the UConn OCF - Eddie Ryan, Tashie Leva, Sol Yniguez, John Lardas and Chris Adams - who once again, gave so generously of their time and talents.
