A memorial service for the 26 victims of the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School was held at the conclusion of Divine Liturgy on December 23, 2012.
 
Twenty six unlit candles were arranged in a candle stand prior to the prayers. As the full name and age of each victim was read, the church bell tolled once, then every Holy Trinity educator, child, and young adult came forward to light a candle in memory of the each departed person. A final Memory Eternal was then sung.
 
The 26 candles will continue to burn at Matins and Divine Liturgy on Christmas Eve.
