The Holy Trinity Church community honored three upcoming graduates from the University of Connecticut (Orthodox Christian Fellowship) at Divine Liturgy this morning, and with a reception downstairs afterwards. Today marked the final Sunday all the students were with us. They are prayed for throughout the year; their absence is always felt in a most significant way. The students have finals the week of April 30-May 4. Several underclassmen will be returning home for the summer at the completion of their finals.
Eddie Ryan and Victoria Villano will graduate from the Storrs campus on Saturday, May 5.
Victoria will earn a Master's Degree in Art History. She interned the Spring semester at the prestigious New Britain Museum of American Art. Victoria's home town is Ellicott City, MD, and her home parish is St Theodore Greek Orthodox Church in Lanham, MD.
Eddie is a biomedical engineering major. He was received into the Orthodox Church on March 25 on the Feast of the Annunciation. Eddie was a presence at Holy Trinity for all four years of his undergraduate years. He will be missed. Eddie's current home parish is Holy Trinity, Willimantic. He hails from Middlebury, CT.
We were also joined this morning by Pastor Joseph Blotz, the Minister of Faith Formation at the First Church of Christ (United Church of Christ) in Mansfield, CT, who was visiting with several students, their mentors, and parents. Pastor Joe leads his congregation's confirmation process for students in grades 7-9. For many it was the first experience at a Divine Liturgy. They all joined with our graduating students and parish family for fellowship and refreshments after Liturgy.
It was a great day for the Holy Trinity Church community. God is good.
