Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

The Holy Trinity Church community celebrated the First Sunday of Lent & The Sunday of Orthodoxy with a procession inside the church as our church community, under the guidance of Vera Shelley, sang the festal Troparion as nearly every member processed with an icon. It was an inspiring scene, as our church community experienced tangible joy. As is most often the case, our church was full of children and young adults. Eighteen children served during the Divine Liturgy, many young females of whom serve in our church's Saint Olympia Handmaiden Ministry.

Afterwards, we began to prepare the church for two baptisms next Saturday morning when two young siblings will be received into the Orthodox faith.

As is nearly the case every Sunday, many members stayed until the early afternoon enjoying fellowship. Thanks to Zachary Novosad who set his alarm early Sunday morning to provide us with a delicious pot of borsch.
