Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

The Holy Trinity community celebrated two significant events in November.

First, Richard Keating was Chrismated into the Orthodox Church on November 5. Richard had been attending Holy Trinity faithfully for approximately 18 months where he rarely missed a worship service. Richard received instruction on Orthodox doctrine, spirituality, worship, and church history for six months prior to his reception into the church.

“Richard took his instruction very seriously," Holy Trinity rector, V. Rev. Marc Vranes said. "He asked poignant questions and was extremely receptive to the teachings which were conveyed to him.”

After Divine Liturgy on Sunday, November 19, Jason & Denise Geeza visited our neighbors at the Covenant Soup Kitchen on Valley Street where they were able to drop of $200 in food donations and $110 worth of monetary donations which were offered by Holy Trinity parishioners in support of the soup kitchen's Annual Thanksgiving Day Meal. Today was the only day to drop off donations, so the response from our community on short notice is noteworthy.

“Members of the soup kitchen were so excited to receive our donations this morning," Denise reported enthusiastically. "It was incredibly heartwarming.”

The Holy Trinity community will be volunteering at the Covenant Soup Kitchen again on December 2, 2017.
