Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

Holy Trinity hosted the Connecticut Deanery Lenten Vespers on Sunday afternoon, March 8, 2015. Many faithful and clergy from throughout Connecticut gathered in Willimantic on the Second Sunday of Great Lent.

Guest homilist was Fr Walter Smith, the recently assigned pastor at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Waterbury. Fr Walter offered a sermon on Saint Gregory Palamas, a 14th century monk and Archbishop of Thessaloniki, Greece. Fr Walter spoke of St Gregory's transfiguration spirituality, and how it can be actualized for each person during the Lenten season.

A festive luncheon was provided for our guests by the members at Holy Trinity Church family.
