Wonders of the Small Church

The small church has incredible importance and value, although it may not carry the pomp of churches in Europe and elsewhere. I have one particular small church in mind: ours.

HTOC bid farewell to Vadim Kurochkin, 16, an Orthodox young man who spent the year abroad, studying at Terryville High School. Vadim lived with an American host family since his arrival in August, 2013. He will return to his home in Kyrgyzstan (central Asia) on June 18. Vadim served weekly in the HTOC altar and developed many wonderful friendships with the Holy Trinity family.

Vadim was presented with a hard cover book which detailed in pictures his year at Holy Trinity. He was also given a Divine Liturgy book, along with several other gifts from parishioners. In addition to his many American experiences, Vadim also completed 125 community service hours, more than half accumulated as a Junior Volunteer at Bristol Hospital.

Vadim thanked all those at Holy Trinity who have so warmly received him during his 10 months in the United States. He especially thanked Dr Barbara Lacey who has been extremely supportive of his efforts, and was always offering encouragement to Vadim.
